German-Ukrainian Aid Association

About us

The German-Ukrainian Aid Association (Deutsch-Ukrainischer Hilfeverein e.V.) was founded in Munich in the spring of 2022 as a civil society response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Originating from a humanitarian impulse, the organization began as a team of 20 volunteers who came together in the first days of the Russian full-scale invasion to provide urgent help to displaced people from Ukraine arriving in Munich. Thanks to our partners and contributors such as Sympatex GmbH, Studienkolleg München, MUCBOOK, Lost Weekend Munich, Refugee Law Clinic Munich, and others, we have been able to establish an extensive emergency support program for Ukrainian displaced persons in Munich, which included daily online and in-person consultations at our office, weekly workshops, free German courses, and much more.

Since then, we have focused our expertise on creating links between Ukrainian and German initiatives and on organizing cultural events with the aim of making long-term contributions to the promotion of Ukrainian art and culture and intercultural dialogue.
